Sustainable Water

Southern Waters is being established by Central Otago, Clutha and Gore District Councils to deliver safe, reliable and financially sustainable water services for our communities.

It will be the largest joint Council water services entity in the South Island, delivering water, wastewater, and stormwater services to approximately 59,000 people across an area of 17,550 km².

Modelling for Southern Waters has identified cumulative savings of around $390 million by 2054 for consumers.

Southern Waters has a $560 million capital works programme to 2034. It will manage assets with a total value of $684 million, including:
